With an increase in population, there is a chance that we will be short of our resources and now it’s time to act against it and a need to create awareness. The population is the number of organisms of the same group or species who live in a particular area and capable of breeding.
Every year on 11 July we celebrate World Population Day this day was selected because on this day in 1987 world population toll reached 5 million because of which the governing council of United Nations’ Development Programme decided to celebrate this day. The primary aim of this day is awareness about the rapidly increasing population and reproductive health. Other aims are:
- Empowering the youth.
- Giving girls and boys access to primary education.
- Educating them to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
- Eradicating gender-based stereotypes.
Population explosion is a sudden, rapid increase in population. Ill effects of population explosion are:
- Unemployment.
- Lack of basic facilities.
- Poverty.
- Illiteracy.
Increasing population is a cause of concern for countries like India and China. Though there are many initiatives taken there is no use, so it’s on us to stop the rapid growth of population.
