QuickByte: A Mirror Is The Only Place Where I Can Exercise Free Speech

ff

How do I say this out?

Will I be judged?

My social engagement demands me to watch rather than to speak?

Am I free to express my opinion?

These are the questions that haunt almost all individual, at least who abide by social law and who are raised in barriers of expression. Right, wrong, extravagant or okay are all standards that map our speeches.

Representational image.

Speech is just a word that contains tons of expression and context. We carry our speech as our representation. Isn’t it funny when we read about ‘Freedom of Speech’ in our Constitution? I laugh when I remember that I studied the concept in my Civics syllabus just to find it to be used as a means of exploitation.

In our country, statements are thrown out claiming it to be right. Like, someone came up and posted a long hatred content on social media and guess what it is completely okay because it is freedom of speech. Actually, freedom is speech is also dependent on who is speaking. I never heard a poor farmer using this right to express his grief or complaints. Rather their voice is suppressed and they are held aloof.

Freedom of speech, as it seems to me, is just an asset to those who can make their voice heard. But, unfortunately, those who are using this freedom are spreading hatred and obligatory statement.

And then comes our law book where we have everything to work but only to the level of courts, at ground level we are just held in the grip of our inability. The poor are helpless as they lack money, middle-class people are gripped with the problem of running their lives and the rich have everything in their grasp with money.

The concept of Freedom of speech is nothing more than an assumption because in reality, the speech that really matters is just lost beneath useless and lame unrelated circumstances.

“Living in a myth, that something is my right under the law, generally leads us to utter darkness as everything that matters for now is the publicity of individual through speech”.
