Greed – The Root Of All Problems

Representational Image

” Sarkaar kabhi kuch diya hi nhi hai, jab bhi sarkaari office gaye hain, daant kar bhaga deta hai” says Manju devi, an agricultural labourer from the district of samstipur, Bihar.

Life is not like ‘zindagi na milegi dobara‘ in many parts of our country, and many of those parts lie in states like Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. Our surveys may categorize people according to different castes, classes, or creed, but the real segregation of the strata is of two kinds.

The first one comprises people full of greed and the second one is of people who are non- greedy. Every class and caste has both kinds of people. For even if you can eradicate someone’s poverty, you can never satisfy a greedy man.

We often think the biggest problem of a democratically functioning government is either a huge population, illiteracy or what not. But the fact is the single biggest problem is the ‘GREED’ of people here. Maximum no. of people are self-centred here, whether they are in the government or civilians. Individualism can never keep us united as a nation.

It’s a matter for discussion, that through our education policy , are we able to raise honest and ethical people in our society?

That’s what we all need to sit around and ponder.
