The cost of Covaxin will be less than the cost of a water bottle, affirmed by the managing director Dr Krishna Ella of Bharat Biotech International Limited. The cost of vaccine is something that people are really curious to know about. They want to know that even if a vaccine will be prepared and get ready for its sale in markets, they will be able to afford it or not? Is it going to be too costly? A recent conference on the pandemic has put the doubts of people to an end.

During a conference on COVID-19 vaccine, Dr Ella stated that Bharat biotech is making progress in the process of vaccine making. He makes sure that the quality of Covaxin will be uniform for the world. Getting the right shot of vaccine as soon as possible to prevent COVID-19 is the prime focus of Bharat Biotech.

Pointing out at a bottle, MD of Biotech Company affirmed, “This water bottle costs 5 times more than our vaccine.” Most probably, it will cost less than Rs 100 so that even the lower and middle sections of society can afford the vaccines cost. During the conference, several companies like biological E, Indian immunologicals and Bharat biotech conveyed their inclination to coordinate with each other for a qualitative and quantitative vaccine production.

Dr Ella emphasised the need for a decentralised regulatory system for vaccines. Along with it, he also stressed that the government should hold consultations with the developers of vaccine and provide all statutory permissions through regional offices, not New Delhi.

As of now, Covaxin has reached its clinical trial stage. It is being tested on human volunteers at different 12 sites. The other vaccine making companies in India namely Biological E and Indian immunologicals are currently in animal trial stage.

Zydus Cadila is the second vaccine making company in India to have reached the clinical trial phase of humans.

Most probably, according to the experts worldwide, an average opinion states that it will take around six months to an year for a vaccine to be prepared.
