Don’t Dalit children deserve to be treated the same as others?

Representative image.

Desparados, why don’t you come to your senses? India is a land that favours a rural setting. Agriculture is the mainstay of the country. Schools still are places of discrimination. Whereas, it is supposed to be an institution of learning and a place where students from various backgrounds can mingle. No doubt, the British Maucaulayian system is to blame here. To produce cheap babus, Dalits were pushed behind on purpose. The public school system destroyed Dalit life. Most of the leaders sent/send their children to costly public schools with the money of Indian taxpayers, in a land where even the poor rickshaw wallas have to pay tax when buying taxable consumables.

Bihar, the land of ‘Babus’ who spearheaded the movement against such ostracisation of Dalits in the last century continues the horror and terror of casteism and that too in school where one is supposed to be teaching how to learn together, play together, irrespective of caste, creed, sex, race, and religion. The Constitution of the land constitutes all kinds of diverse races – Aryans,Dravidians, Austro Mongoloid and so on and so forth

It is high time social distancing is not avoided even if during the pandemic, physical distancing may be maintained for saving lives. We can be apart but we need to do our part. My countrymen, we fought the common enemy of imperialism and colonialism. We defeated it keeping in mind our common destiny but we still endorse their policy of divide and rule. Babu rightly said that high caste Indians benefited from the exploitation of Dalits and their money allowing them to send their children for decades to public schools whereas Dalit children cannot afford to pay even fifty rupees for concessional government schools.

Are government designed Dalit schools actually going to work? Desparados,it is time to come back to your senses!
