The Future Of Learning In India

Because of the COVID 19 pandemic, the whole world was shattered and in this regard, particularly for India, many issues arose like unemployment, increased cases of violence against women due to the lockdown in the whole country. Moreover, when we look at the education sector, schools have been shut down since March onwards and haven’t yet re -opened. Already the rates of school dropouts among girls are high.

Not everyone has access and is able to avail of digital learning

Online Education Is Inaccessible

The school education system is in a critical condition, especially in government schools around the country. The online class system was started to cope with the current situation. But when we look at the online class system, it can only be accessed by children who have the ability to avail of smartphone facilities. What about the children who live in villages and go to government schools and whose parents are poor and are struggling to meet their daily needs. Both parents are going to work nowadays because they don’t have regular employment. Someone goes for MNREGA to deal with the economic crisis they now face and the whole household responsibility has come down onto the shoulder of the girl child who has to take care of her younger brothers and sisters and all the cooking and cleaning work as well. Some of the girls have to help their parents in farming also.

In the state of Rajasthan, the children who go into government schools in their villages are now sitting in their homes, feeling hopeless. Because now they don’t even have any online classes like the others and are at a loss as to what their future will be.
