Firstly, I’m terribly proud of you Mr Prime Minister for how you unceasingly keep fighting to increase the tax base by appeal. However, it’s time to use the stick to get a larger tax base.
Also, I’m of the belief that being able to tax rich farmers for a start and poorer ones later on is not only warranted as we all must pay our part for the upkeep of civilization, it’ll help bring about a sense of stakeholding among all.
Parliament will start mattering to the poor.
Anybody who isn’t in poverty owes some part. I’m thinking of a 5% Income tax rate for those earning under INR 200,000/year.
It’s not an amount that’ll hurt and yet is necessary.
It’s a political no no but I think they’ll forgive you.
