Yesterday night, the clock struck nine and I received a call from my aunt saying that she lost her father-in-law to COVID-19. It seems up a story that is made up. Right? To be honest, this is no joke. Countless lives are being lost every single day. Be lucky that you weren’t in a situation like my aunt, who after taking every single measure found out that her father-in-law tested positive and died. Yesterday, the Telangana government added one death – I knew him.
I do not know how to feel. Should I mourn over the loss or accept the reality. There is no single day that I do not see how he succumbed to death. He was not that old! I have no sympathy to gain. I don’t want your family members mourning and seeing their loved ones succumb to a virus. We all do want to go out. We want to meet our friends. We want to go to visit the malls, watch movies. Life will not be the same, it seems hard to accept the reality but we have to win this fight. I do not know where you live or where you come from, but I know one thing for sure – we can fight this virus. This is just an appeal. This virus affects everyone. Wearing a mask won’t invade your rights. Not going out will make sure you, yourself, can fight it – at least at an individual level. My sister, grandparents, and parents all have chronic illnesses from respiratory problems to diabetes. I do not want to lose them to a virus. Not stepping out can save 30 million diabetics and more.
