We all have achieved something or the other in our lives for ourselves, we all have dreams some are achieved and some are not. But this old man from Punjab had a different view of his own a dream he wanted to conquer at an age which we as young generation lack to even think of.
Sant Balbir Singh made us all proud and realize one important thing in life which we all neglect always, OUR ENVIRONMENT. This man is known as the Eco Baba in India and abroad. He has cleaned the historic river Kali bein of Guru Nanak. He cleaned 160 km of the river which made him well known all over the world.
His work makes us realize how important it is to respect and care about our environment, this man has made us all proud as humans. He was awarded the Hero of Environment title by the times and is the only Asian to receive it.
The river Kali bein was known to be severely polluted by industrial waste and was on the verge of being dying it was then Sant Balbir Singh took the initiative to clean the whole river by himself , he has not only cleaned the holy river but have also planted trees and have beautified it. Due to this initiative of his the water problem of Dooba area of Punjab was also solved.
He also constructed a low cost sewage model which was helpful as it stored sewage water in a natural way which was later used for agriculture and irrigation which has benefited a lot of villages which has made his model so famous that the Central government has asked him to use this model for River Ganga.
He has worked hard for the environment at an age when no one thinks of doing such things and has not only made India proud but the the world with his achievements his hard work makes us realize how important it is to take a few steps for your environment.
His efforts has make us all proud and we hope the best for him and to keep learning from people like him.
