It seems that major news channel broadcasters are in a deliberate rush to pronounce their verdict in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case promised by the possession of strong vitals, clues, leads and information. I believe this case has become a pick of the news corporations spiced with a set of sensation, emotions, fiction and drama supporting the chronology of the chain of events triggering the death of Sushant.
We aren’t allowed to debate upon the merits of the fact responsible for his tragic demise, rather are being directed by the supposed suitability of our speculations resulting in our presuppositions of the situation and circumstances under which the actor was compelled to take this unfortunate call.
Being from Bihar, I purposefully chose to enter into detailed discussions with individuals around the situating, locating and analysing their arguments by putting it into perspective as many believe that the Bihar Police is unnecessarily interfering and intervening in the legitimate investigation of the Mumbai Police by arbitrarily choosing to part with the investigation, hampering the due process and procedure of the investigation.
On 29 July Sushant’s father Mr KK Singh trained his gun on late actor’s friend Rhea Chakraborty who he believed duped his son by lavishly spending his hard-earned money as pressing charges were also made by Sushant’s domestic help against Rhea as to how she was playing with the emotions and feelings of a shy and sensitive Sushant.
Many are not able to buy his death by suicide as he was a person with a great sense of humour and humility, always up for the individuals with whom he affectionately became close as they are also the ones who are desisting themselves from commenting on the theories being propounded by the news channel corporations and broadcasters.
This episode ultimately gave an occasion and opportunity to Bihar Police DGP Gupteshwar Pandey who after getting a go-ahead from Sushant’s father for a fair and free investigation sent his team to Mumbai after consulting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The bigger question is, how can the Bihar Police encroach upon the jurisdictional territory of the Mumbai Police in the first place by deciding upon the tenets of the case matter resulting to chaos, conflict, contradiction and friction between Maharashtra and Bihar Police?
Vinay Tiwari, Bihar SP was quarantined by Birhan Mumbai Corporation (BMC) and was put in a guest house for the said period of 14 days charging the Mumbai Police of tampering with the crucial evidence and by shielding the accused who had direct involvement in the Sushant case. None of the officers of the Bihar Police assisted and cooperated by the Mumbai Police in recording the testimonies of the individuals who were quite proximate to Sushant.
The final line between Maharashtra and Bihar Police was drawn after the Bihar government ordered a CBI probe in the matter owing to the lack of cooperation and coordination by their counterparts in the Mumbai Police stoking a war of words between the Maharashtra government and leaders of the opposition in the state.
As with the Media kicking in Sushant’s matter has taken an “Us” vs “Them” approach as social media has become the hub for loud declarations of regional pride, loyalty and obedience, calling for a boycott of big banner Bollywood commercials, denying the chance to budding talents.
Mumbai Police is being denounced as an ineffective and inept police force in the country by those supporting the claims of the media trial in the Sushant case, hugely providing succour to the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar for promoting and performing his politics in conduct conducive to influence and impact the political action and behaviour of the electorate in the state by shifting their focus from the menace of the Coronavirus and the battering flood which has brought the state to a standstill.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra is batting for the Mumbai Police after the latter questioned the CBI probe in the Sushant case impinging upon the role and authority of the Mumbai Police being uncalled for trivialising the prospects of an independent and fair enquiry in the matter at this stage.
There is a sudden surge of adrenaline in us as based on our courage and conviction, we, like the news media outlets, are up with our conclusions nullifying the merits and the if’s and but’s attached with it for many aspirants from the ordinary middle-class families Bollywood has, but become a space for tricky manipulations and mismanagement for meeting one’s desired goals and ends.
Let us put a full stop to the twists and turns in the Sushant matter for the time being and patiently wait for the observation and verdict of the Supreme Court in this matter on 11 August on the authority competent enough to investigate Sushant’s case in length and detail. Till then, let’s not to be swayed and persuaded by any of the commentaries and conclusions on the matter as for now.
