A Letter To The Women In India

I, Mariyam Malik, a 16-year-old young girl from the city of Jammu, want to speak up for women empowerment. I want equal rights for the women in my country. I want to know why girls are thought of as unlucky. The women give rise to a new generation. A woman is a mother who raises a child, the future of our country. Then why is a girl marked as unlucky?

Because our society has created such a mentality. From earlier times, women have been fighting for their rights. Why do they always have to fight for their rights? Being born a girl means everyone is disappointed. During our menstruation cycles, everyone treats us like we are untouchables. Only we know the mental torture we need to face. I think mental hygiene is more important than physical hygiene .

When we are young, any demand for freedom from us and we get labelled as being characterless. Why? Why are we treated as weak? Why do we have to be silent? Why do we have to sacrifice always? It’s just because we always have to fight to win. We never fight to enjoy it. Let’s make a change, join together and enjoy our rights.
