In A Poverty-Stricken Nation, Can Education Become Our Great Emancipator?

How Can India Create A Bright Future For Children

In a country ravished with poverty and illiteracy, it is the need of the hour to spread the wings of education far across. We at Pehchaan: The Street School are working towards advocating for the cause of ‘education as the utmost priority for a child’. Pehchaan has a large network involved in educating children with the aim of providing free education to each and every child. Some of our goals in doing so is so that children from underprivileged backgrounds find it easier to:

Education can change people, nations, leaders, policies, and eventually the world.
  1. Be Self-Reliant: Education serves not just the purpose of knowledge, but also serves as a tool of learning and understanding basic concepts that can be applied by a child in real-life situations through their life. Education helps the child understand and apply basic concepts in day-to-day life and aids independence and self-reliance. Independence is a crucial attribute and being self-reliant will also make one aware of how one can deal with failures, fight negative emotions and strengthen oneself in difficult times. At a very fundamental level, it gives children the confidence to live in this world.
  2. Fulfil Their Ambitions: Everyone in life has certain dreams or goals one wishes to accomplish and achieving something that you are craving for gives immense satisfaction. Education provides a variety of skills to excel in life. Whether a child wants to become a scientist, a lawyer or an engineer, the child needs to use these skills from one’s education to bag their dream job.
  3. Make The World A Better Place: Education can change people, nations, leaders, policies, and eventually the world. Educating and gaining knowledge never stops. The world would be in complete chaos if it did not address certain issues and resolve them with a proper understanding of conflicts and their background. Day by day, people are becoming more aware with respect to sensitive issues thanks to education.

Look around the world, you will find many people who are striving to learn something, some are seeking justice, some are in danger of getting humiliated due to unawareness. This is why education has the power to change people, leaders, nations and bring justice and peace. It has the power to make the world a better place.
