Corona : the race towards the edge

The numbers of COVID-19 cases are rising rapidly. Recently we witnessed the biggest one day hike in the number of 90,632 positive cases, making India’s total cases are now the second-highest in the world with over 4.1 million cases with over 71 thousand plus deaths. The last 1 million was crossed in just 13days, with Maharashtra being on the top position and Lakshadweep being on the lower end. India has the fastest growing Coronavirus infection in the world and Maharashtra reported the fastest growth of corona virus infection in last month, registering over 3.70 lakh cases. Currently, India holds the 2nd position in the world, in the ratio of active cases and achieved 3rd position in the world in the death ratio related to COVID-19. The recovered case stands with the number of 3.21 lakhs.

With Unlock 4 the central government eased out some rules and allowed people to work and to go out with proper precautions and by maintaining all norms of social distancing the central government also organized entrance exams amid this pandemic situation. Of course, the main issue of concern here is the rising number of positive cases but here is another reason which we need to address that is the negligence of people. No doubt many are following all the rules and are maintaining social distancing but some people are under the impression that the government reducing its restriction indicates COVID-19 is no longer an imminent threat and they are free to do as they please without any fear, which happens to be one of the main contributing factors for the rapid spread of the virus. Because of some people’s ignorance, the rest of the population is facing the consequences. It is not only the duty of the police, health official, or the government, along with that every single citizen of India must understand the urgency of the moment and should work accordingly.
