“Feminism Means Women Should Be As Free As Men”

You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.

Feminism definitely means putting women ahead of men, isn’t it? People, especially men, are so offended by this idea of feminism, but do you know, what is sad? Without knowing the true meaning of feminism, people pass judgements. Feminism doesn’t mean considering women ahead of men; its only concern is “equality” or “to seek equality.”

In fact, feminist movements started because men hated women. It was believed that women are just a burden to humanity. So, to raise issues against patriarchy and chauvinism, feminism emerged. To be precise, the idea of feminism was never to consider men lesser than women but to seek equality.

It’s excruciating that there are certain stereotypes and norms associated with women. For example, household chores should be done by women only; men can’t cook because they are simply superior. Men have to earn a penny for the family and women will take care of the family and their needs. They can’t go to work; they cannot have job opportunities even if they have commendable stature.

So, are you a feminist?

Girls are often told if you wear short dresses, you would be on someone’s eye, which would eventually lead to rape. However, the excruciating reality is, they will eat the soul out of you even if you are in a burqa. People need to know, short clothes have no role in inviting rape but the short mentality.

Feminist movements are thus necessary to make these chicken-hearted realise that women aren’t your remote control toy. Feminism is important to make men realise the importance of women and respect them. Feminism is important to put a stop to chauvinism. Feminism is important to make women realise their worth and potential. Feminism is important to make women realise they are no less than men.

TL;DR what is feminism? It is simply the belief that women should be as free as men; however, nuts, dim, deluded, badly dressed, receding, lazy and smug they might be. So, are you a feminist? Of course, you are!
