Poem: From A Woman, To The Men

Dear Men,

Try to wear a sleeveless shirt,

And get stopped by a woman,

Because that will make you look like a slut.

Try to come home as early as possible in the night,

Because the world outside will look down upon you.

Try not to drink alcohol and don’t ever smoke,

Because your ‘manners’ will be questioned.

Try to talk in a soft voice ,

Because a loud voice is not what is expected  from  you.

Try to cover every bit of skin of yours,

Because otherwise the society will think you want ‘it’.

Try not to have short hair or go bald,

Because then your culture will be questioned.

Try not to go for  night outs,

Because then you will be called a whore.

Or leave it.

Don’t try any of these.

Live as you want.

And be called a slut, a whore, or someone with no dignity.

As you call the women who do this, right?

There no question  of revenge here.

It’s about making you feel claustrophobic as you make us feel,

By suffocating our thoughts, our opinions, our ideas, our voice and even our creativity.

But I promise, living in a matriarchy won’t be as painful and threatening as living in a patriarchy.

Because we won’t see you as an object,

As you do.

When you stalk us as nothing but a walking dead with just breasts and vagina.

Relax, we won’t make you feel what you always make us feel.
