Has The Indian Media Begun To Walk The Tight Rope?

Media has begun to look for the choice of a reason for maintaining its conduct in the eyes of the audience. It wants to score mileage from the viewership and the perception it creates and constructs in their mind. It’s like awarding the audience with a moral sanctity of rightfully establishing fictions from facts. This is the defining characteristic feature of the major media broadcasters and corporations in the country. Well, I am made to understand that being a pro or anti dispensation shouldn’t matter to us at all.

In a vibrant and plural democracy like ours, everybody is entitled to their opinions and ideas. But when it is superimposed, then the matter further escalates into a crisis and conflict. The Sushant Singh Rajput case has been a fine illustration of this fact. Rhea Chakraborty was pronounced guilty and audience like us were made to readily buy this purchase. Although the investigations into the case of Sushant Singh Rajput began later, we had already had caught hold of the culprit.

Plaudits for those who control fate, otherwise we might have dared to rise up in our capacity, if not for the menace of Corona, a battering economy and livelihood. What if it was not for an #SSR case? Who could have provided us with a much-needed respite and rescue? Think for a while? None other than our media offering us the opium to arouse and excite our senses.

Sushant Singh Rajput telecasts gave us all an occasion to conveniently pick sides and make the best purpose of it. Accordingly, we drew our own inferences and conclusions by totally being mute spectators. For us, nothing mattered more than bringing the perpetrators of Sushant Singh Rajput to justice.

Shouldn’t we be doing it at the first instance considering his commitment and dedication to the art and aesthetics of films? Why not? We can totally encourage our policymakers to look into the possible angles into the death of the actor. That’s what a lot of thought, didn’t we? But I ask you this: who will shoulder the burden of articulating and addressing our grievances? Well, we gave up on media a long back but now, whom should we rely upon?

Democracy along with Corona has already been caged and quarantined. Protests and movements will have to wait. As our media will continue to walk the tight rope and we as citizens will be forced to seek reconciliation.

If not otherwise. Alas!
