Menstrual Leave Is A Must For Women

Period ad showing blue blood

Five days, every month! Yes, they stay with us every for five days (the average) every month. And if we calculate it, 60 days will be the answer every year. So it means, for the complete two months we stay with those bloody days, tolerating an absolute indescribable abdomen pain (pain remains for first two days only), staying away from our light shaded clothes (as they may get stained). Last but not least, accompanied by our mood swings which ultimately make us irritated.

Zomato’s Period Leave is a welcome decision.

I know whatever I have said above is known by everyone. But knowing it and feeling it is a completely different thing. I also know that we talk about gender equality and women empowerment, but nobody can deny that women are weaker (only physically) than their opposite gender. So granting a paid period leave is, I think, our right and we deserve it entirely.

There is no shame in accepting period leaves. I am glad that our society is changing. And this step taken by the Zomato company is the result of this change. Although, I know that this step has already been taken by some corporates and by the Bihar Government. But a new initiative by anybody is always welcoming.

I feel very proud to be born as a girl because God has graced us with such a beautiful and delicate body and of course the ability to bring a new life into this beautiful world. We should not feel ashamed of our body or of the cycle which our body repeats every month. Love yourself, girls, and take care of yourself.
