Trigger Warning: Mention of Suicide

Stigmatising those with a deteriorating mental health condition or a cognitive disability has been a plaguing practice in our society. Whenever mental health issues of a child or any family member are brought up, people prefer to sweep it under the carpet in fear of being castigated by the world.

Little do people realize that mental health is equally or perhaps more important than physical health because, if a person is mentally jubilant, they can fight many odds.

There are seven billion versions of normal on this planet.

As the media trials over Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput are keeping us hooked to our television sets these days, how many of us have pondered that we are living in an era where the assumption of a man’s dwindling mental health is not being taken into account over a woman’s witchcraft abilities! Strange indeed, isn’t it?

Let’s pledge to take an extra iota of care for anyone around us who is suffering from depression. Let us not isolate someone who wishes to be left alone. There is someone who perhaps needs just a patient ear or a shoulder to rest on.

Thousands of suicides around the globe can be prevented if we extend a little clemency towards people around us who seem to be thrown out of their composure or are trying to grapple with the standard definitions of normal and abnormal.

There is no standard normal. Normal is subjective. There are seven billion versions of normal on this planet.
