Media is the fourth pillar of our democracy. The power of media is sincerely pivotal in a democratic country such as India. But is the media doing justice to its role? Due to bombardment of bizarre and nonsense information, the institution seems to be losing its importance in our lives. Gone are the days when we were dependent on the media for transparency and accuracy.
Now, the media is chasing the so-called TRP rates to enhance its popularity. By taking advantage of fake and cheap information, media channels are garnering publicity. The current pandemic has given birth to numerous crises, one of them being unemployment. The holocaust has penetrated into the fundamental regime of our society. But the media overlooks this catastrophe.
Why the hell are they adopting a behaviour of repetition? By showing the same news, again and again, they are creating nuisance. Sometimes, I wonder how to tackle this civilised monster. News reporters are misusing their dignity and position. The plight of the labour and the migratory youth is a serious concern of our country. But who is taking care of them? Instead of doing their jobs, they are merely entertaining us.
