Unacceptable End
People go, but how they left always leaves a mark. This recent quote found in social media made me pick up the pen today. Its been three months the charming actor Sushant Singh Rajput left for his heavenly abode. All I want to do here is profess my undying love and respect for the late actor and confess that it’s very strenuous for our minds to accept this end. Our whole generation is so attached to this man’s aura as most of us have followed him from his television days. In retrospection, we can only find the efforts he has given in molding each of his characters onscreen. His career, which took off from the role of a modest man named Manav in the Zee tv serial Pavitra Rishta and ironically it had an abrupt end in the form of the fun and frolic Anni in Chichore and the optimistic Manny in Dil Bechara. Any actor would pray for such a filmography to his credit. With such accolades on his stride, it also stresses our understanding of how this person was suffering from clinical depression at all. We cannot relate Sushant Singh Rajput with terms such as depressed man and drug addiction, the words that are looming at large in the media. All we have learned from his characters and the real person he was is to be happy, content, prosperous yet grounded, and an intellect that is unmatched at least in the Tinsel town. As a tribute to his brilliance, we go down memory lane reviewing the late actor’s finest performances.2008; the Star Plus serial ‘Kis Desh Mein Hain Mera Dil’ was his foray into the Television world with a small yet powerful role in the form Preet Juneja. Sushant became an overnight favorite with his chiseled looks and brilliant acting. Next came the big break in the form of the demure Manav Deshmukh of Pavitra Rishta, and with that role, why only Ankita Lokhande, any girl would go mad for him the way the character got its shape. After completing one season of that mega serial, his dreamy debut in the Hindi film Industry slated. Kai Po Che’s Ishaan was so like Sushant himself, full of life and talent. Shudh Desi Romance was a coming of age film, as they say, with Sushant adding the right vibes and energy to Raghu Ram. The classy Detective Byomkesh Bakshi can be marked as his career-best performance after the Magnus response he received through MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and its movie.
The perfect onscreen Dhoni got our heart rates faster like never before, the nuances he followed right from his smile to the helicopter shots. Unforgettable! Then the offers poured in, and the best of Sushant got yielded in the beautifully written characters such as Mansoor in Kedarnath, Aniruddha in Chichore, and also that romantic Sarfaraz Yusuf in the small yet essential role played in PK. Then the chocolate boy appeared in Raabta, a film which was overshadowed but his chemistry with the lead actress Kirti Sanon made them a good looking pair, and we just wished we could see more work together. But Alas! And last but not at all least, Immanuel Rajkumar Junior(Manny) in Dil Bechara, and this film which a few dared to watch posthumously. Whatever the outcome of the CBI investigations, he’s gone forever, and that we have to live with this unacceptable end forever and ever. Love you, Sushant Singh Rajput, and as all say, “Tum Bahut Yaad Aaoge.”
