Vocational and Skill-based Education stressed in NEP 2020

American Association of Yoga and Meditation (AAYM), in association with Heritage Group of Institutions, organized a Virtual Panel Discussion on ‘Understanding the National Education Policy 2020′ on 5th September 2020, which was addressed by Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan, Vice Chairman, UGC, and Swami Atmapriyanandaji, Pro-Chancellor, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational & Research Institute, Belur Math as the eminent panelists.
The welcome address for the panel discussion was given by Shri H.K.Chaudhary, Chairman, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata, along with Dr. Indranill Basu Ray, Founder, and Chairman, AAYM. The Panel was moderated by Mr. Nirmalya Bhattacharyya, Co-Chairman, Ganga Mississippi Dialogue. During the panel discussion, Swami Atmapriyanandaji spoke about the Indian Education system, which is deeply rooted in our culture and tradition. He also stressed that’ Religious Education’ and the current policy would bring a sea change in delivering education to the community. Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan spoke about the Indian Knowledge System, which is stressed in the National Education Policy 2020.
Moreover, he said that the new policy would make significant transformations in the Indian Education System. Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe spoke about innovations to empower students, strategy to translate a road map to transform the Indian Education system are quite emphasized in the National Education Policy. He also spoke about the vibrancy in National Education Policy that had given importance to vocational and skill-based technical education. The policy’s multidisciplinary element will provide enough autonomy for the students to choose subjects based on their interests.
The panel discussion ended with a vote of thanks from Shri Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata, who thanked the panelists and spoke about the positivity of the National Education Policy 2020.
