73 Years Of Independence But Interfaith Love Remains ‘Taboo’ In India

interfaith love

It is not the first time, in India’s history, that we’ve seen interfaith love being criticized and looked down upon. Surprisingly, a country that stood against the British Raj as a whole to protest is still bothered by interfaith love.

On the one hand, we are moving forward at a fast pace, from being an ‘underdeveloped’ country to being a ‘developing’ country. But on the other hand, our mentality is yet to be considered enough. We are progressing with issues like rights for women, same-sex marriage, rights for transgender people, and more. It is really plausible that we have reached that forward-thinking phase of capitalizing and empowering each and every citizen in their own ways.

Having stated the forwardness of the country and the advanced thinking of the country, it is really a matter of pride. However, it is the same country that we are talking about which is still against interfaith love.

I believe not all of us are aware of the history of religion but at least we know of the fact that ‘Religion is a way of life.’

Lord Buddha had stated this fact very clearly while he preached but directly or indirectly all the other religions depict the same.
The earliest human civilization had grown in the banks of the Indus, which is now in Pakistan but gradually the civilization grew up in various parts of the country and the world. Religion was invented just to civilize some people of the same area according to a set of rules.

If you look very carefully, the culture, tradition, eating habits, and religion of the northern part of India is far different from that of southern, eastern, and western India. This is because of the geographical location, weather, climate, and circumstances that appear in northern India. The same logic applies to the people of other parts of the country, hence religion is just the faith in supernatural power and it has got nothing to do with love.

Love is a feeling and emotion and it does not discriminate between faiths and gods. As a young citizen of this country, it is very important that we come together and raise our voice. It is now time to stand for logic and the right. Interfaith love needs support and we can make bring this change by just changing one mind.
