This NGO Distributed 100 Artificial Limbs Amid The Lockdown

Narayan Seva Sansthan is a not-for-profit organisation that runs charitable hospitals in the country for the differently-abled, in particular, those afflicted with polio and those with congenital special needs. The organisation hosted an artificial limb distribution camp in Surat in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Surat on October 10 and 11, 2020. Although this was done amid the lockdown, precautions of social distancing and mask wearing were followed by all. Around 100 people benefited by acquiring these prostheses that allow better mobility.

Prior to the lockdown, in February this year, Narayan Seva Sansthan conducted the required measurements in Surat. The senior prosthetics and orthotics specialist team had taken measurements during a delivery camp, where people affected by polio, as well as those who’ve lost their legs or hands due to diabetes, accidents etc. were measured.

Prashant Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan, said, “Amid this new normal, we are planning measurement and distribution camps across India so that the underprivileged can be enabled. We are glad to see, during this Covid-19 crisis, donors coming forward to help and donate for this cause. Yet, more support from donors is needed to bring the differently abled out of isolation and into mainstream society.”
