Poem: Enough Of The Intolerant Wails In India

The age old Indian history,

Once been imprinted with glory,

Of kings and queens,

About their wars and valorous victory,

Where the then people of the land,

United together to bring prosperity,

For their love for the soil,

Were enfolded with purity,

Pleads of non-violence echoed across,

Where many were witnessed to follow diligently,

For the leaders were few and worth with a vision of clarity,

And the folks worked harder to maintain an egalitarian society,

There were differences then so like the differences now,

Of the innumerous caste, creed, religion and cultural diversity,

But those clichés  seemed to be bestowed with tolerance,

Although,  some pages of history were written on sufferance,

But today if we see the heightened differences,

Of the same India narrowed down with so many interferences,

Where there’s tonnes of hatredness,  killings and taints of darkness,

With the Indian media too crossing the mark of benevolence,

Crimes and prejudices of societal perceptions,

Have grope the streets with fear and deceptions,

Atrocities against women through misogynistic loops and rapes,

A never ending grotesque picture of so many intolerant wails,

The land is shaken with the faith of survival,

For too much of muck are seen on the surface,

Still we say aloud we are tolerant,

No matter how maliciously the land has been ruled to this uneven,

While BBC records India ranks the fourth in 2018,

When it comes to tolerance,

That there is acceptance and appreciation,

Of the racial, religion, cultural and sex orientation,

But is India under the regime of tolerance?

Where everyday, day by day the papers and media,

Float with brutal news, acquisitions and pages of intolerance,

Say the farmer’s suicides, the ailing unemployed youths’ plight,

Everything just so full of fright,

For now the leaders are many, with unplanned visions and cacophony,

Misleading the folks of India to uncertain roads in the hands of destiny,

Do we even lie anywhere when it comes to the index of tolerance?

I am afraid we may actually stand no where if we go by all these reference,

I wonder will there be an end to such intolerances?

For it is beyond the humanity, of sanity, reckless laws and helplessness,

We need to write the glorious chapters of history of course back again,

Let’s be united again to erase such well manipulated disdains,

For our voice matters, our thoughts matter,

To save this land from moving to intolerance,

Before letting it turn into a grave!
