Quick Byte: Now, More Than Ever, It Is Our Responsibility To Protect Our People

hathras protest

We live in a country where we hear a lot about escalated violence, humiliation, and torture towards oppressed communities by the upper-caste or super elite people. One of the cruel incidents that came into the limelight recently was the Hathras case in Uttar Pradesh in which a Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by four upper-caste men and later died.

Soon after the media trails of covering the story caught locals, politicians, nation’s and my attention, I thought this is my responsibility to take my day off from a busy work schedule and pen down a meaningful and influential article. I want to describe my own experience and tell you that we, as a democratic citizen, as an individual, we can make a more significant impact on everyday lives.

It has become the prime duty of every responsible person to think wisely and take essential steps towards protecting the citizens of our nation.

Forget about what corrupted media anchors and politicians are speaking about this incident because all their irrational talks are based on false propaganda or seeking personal gains. I want you to ponder upon your opinions; at this uncomfortable time and uncertain world where we all are on the same path, fighting relentlessly against the deadly virus COVID-19. Suddenly, when someone from your family encounters a very unpleasant and unexpected situation, what will you do to protect your loved ones? Of course, you will put all your efforts, time, and money into saving them. This is what I want you to relate to in other’s stories.

It has become the prime duty of every responsible person to think wisely and take essential steps towards protecting the citizens of our nation. By acknowledging the past events, I request my readers to become more aware, stay safe, and united when such events are reported or take place within your locality.

Any minor or significant contributions made in this crucial time will be highly appreciated. I thank Youth Ki Awaaz for giving me this fantastic opportunity to share my ideas. By expressing my views in this article, I believe that I have contributed a little and uplifted the aspirations or confidence of the marginalised societies.
