Poem: I Am Black

I am black

I am a colour

Just like another shade

Just like your perspective towards the maid

I am black

I am an impact

Just like a night

Dark and long

Reflecting your hair

Not your scars.

I am black

I am a pattern

Just like a cup of tea

Forbidden by the whites

I am black

Absorbing everything under pressure

Just like the depth of an ocean

I am black

You owe me, you grow me

Just like negatives

I am black

I am rare, a dare

A negligence everywhere

I am black

I am vast, I am the last

You renamed me as your past.

I am black

I am black

I love white

We became grey

Everybody denied.

I am black

I am not death

Nor I am socially intimate

I am black

I am no dark, I am no foul

I am the owl

I can see your soul.

I am black

I can glow

I can grow

I can mate

I can mourn.

I am black

I am here, I was then

Outside the box

Inside you head.

I am black

I am a colour.
