Intolerance Is The Reason For Atrocities In Our Country

intolerance

I am a Hindu and my husband is a Muslim. We both are living happily together and we have not changed our religions. We believe in each-others religious beliefs and respect the culture. Although my husband is a low caste Muslim boy, my parents accept him as a human first. But unfortunately, we live in a left-wing and right-wing society, or I can state a company where we regularly see many communal riots.

This was the story of a couple who are bonded based on their humanity and tolerance they have regarding ideas and respect for each other’s religions. Have you ever thought why we get provoked by certain things we are surrounded by? There is a simple answer to this: we do not have tolerance.

We live in a country which works on the mantra of “Unity In Diversity”, and do you know. The contradictory fact here arises that a country with a diversity of culture, religion and caste requires a high tolerance amongst citizens. Do you think that India is a country which has enough tolerant people amongst it?

Intolerance originates from its inception through sex, caste, culture, religion or other unacceptable beliefs in each other’s minds. And hence, I feel justified to state that intolerance is the act that gives a person the right to refuse any individual’s mind or heart. Intolerance has its great examples in history, which prove it to an asynchronous action.

One of the main reasons for a society’s escalation is intolerance to be a transgression. For many centuries in countries like India, intolerance is followed. India has been a country where differences in economy and political power have been seen. And in such cases, society witnesses rise in violence (riots between Muslims and Hindus), discrimination (Hathras rape case), dehumanization (human trafficking in Hyderabad), repression of the individual (Sushant Singh Rajput case). Often, this action becomes so harsh and vital in a society that it can lead to a total boycott of one community and lead to significant violence.

Suppose we consider why intolerance arises in society is the lack of experience among individual opinions. When people react spontaneously towards situations, intolerance is the reason. Especially today’s youth is more likely towards this intolerance. Mahatma Gandhi promoted violence and he always taught all of us to be in control. We should regulate ourselves with our minds’ authority and guide ourselves to be more patient and build tolerance amongst us.
