Are We Really Adapting To The New Normal Enforced By Covid-19?

The lockdown announced by the Government in March 2020 rapidly increased the monotony and boredom of citizens. Few factors that aggravated the already difficult situation are:

Rapid Increase in Screen Time: Due to the meaningless repetition of the same actions day-by-day, our screen time has abruptly increased. People are spending most of their time on digital forums for recreation.

Division of labour: Due to the lockdown, our lifestyle has faced diverse challenges. The working spouses are now doing so from their respective residence, and the entire burden of labour is mostly on the female counterparts. They are expected to look after domestic chores in traditional households. They are getting suffocated by the existing work pressure too, thus leading to chaos and unrest within the families. The lockdown has also paved the way for an alarming rise in domestic violence cases.

The bulk of Frustration: Aggression and intolerance have been reigning in the minds of many people. People are finding it hard to tolerate and cope with absurd situations. Hence, an imbalance in actions is reflected everywhere. It seems no one is adapting to this grave situation.

Coupled with external factors, last but not the least, rampant disbelief and distrust are also damaging the situation. The rise of misinformation and fake news is leading to unwanted disharmony among people.
