Depression, Violence And Meaningless Lives: What The Lockdown Means In Modern Times

The lockdown has shattered our souls. It has broken us apart to a greater extent. It has somewhere also exposed us to the demonic side of men. Domestic violence, suicide and depression are the best likely outcomes of the lockdown. Inside our homes, a violent arena is already burning everything down. Adultery and extramarital issues boil the day and night with aggression. A dubious mindset along with suspicion is reigning inside the mind. Internal turmoil, tapped with external pressure, creates a panic everywhere. Humanity is gone, for sure. Disbelief and distrust are the inflicted pains that affect everyone. We do not know how to release and heal from this hell.

People cannot channelise their anger and frustration due to their monotonous lives. Inaction and repetition of activities are the sole reason for such anarchy. The void life is ruling everywhere. People are baffled by the futility and meaninglessness of life. As a result of this, inner hollowness such an aggressive behaviour is being reflected in every corner of our society. The societal structure has already loosened. Suicidal tendencies, along with brutal murder mysteries, are currently trending on social media. Even the media is exaggerating the current scenario every day. The clutch of quarantine has penetrated into our soul and mind. We are already in its grips.

Lockdown shattered our souls

Life is on social media as of now. We have been distracted by social media from serious issues such as unemployment, poverty and the rapid increase in the crimes against women and so on. The deliberate attempts by digital media to confuse us between trivial and ordinary issues are garnering admiration. Even the mainstream crisis such as migrant workers’ issues, human trafficking etc survive in a lower GDP growth rate.

In the circus of news channels and their melodramatic programmes, we are losing our mental balance. Our sorrow, as well as happiness, is governed by the digital age. With a troublesome mental health, we have failed to keep a balance between our physical and mental condition.
