The current pandemic has dismantled the equilibrium of the educational setup in our country. The ill-affected sections are none other than the girl children who were already struggling to somehow manage in the so-called male-dominated society.

Before, a large chunk of household chores was thrust upon girl children by the parents. After lockdown, by default, they are being exploited into doing these unnecessary chores. I feel it should be a matter of choice. But, in many families, it is a trend to make the girl child take up the manual jobs.

Other than that, due to insufficient monetary capacity, parents oftentimes unable to afford smartphones for their kids. So, online education ends up being a mockery of their conditions.

Next to that, this type of morbidity gives rise to tragic consequences. This only gives birth to child marriages, which further accelerates infant mortality. The death of young mothers at the time of childbirth can’t be ignored.

Only boosting and stimulating community awareness regarding girls’ education will be a harbinger of stability and equality.

The government should act as a stabilizer when it comes to enriching online education for children from marginalised communities. NGOs should also rejuvenate and promote books, copies, and other materials in such underprivileged families to promote education.
