Poem: Lost Innocence

silhouette woman mental health alone shadow

I watched the little one,
Wishing it was my own,

Surrounded by the tall and the stout,
Wondering why they had grown.

An Innocence lost long ago,
Reaping what they had sown,

Unwilling to shun their ways,
Refusing to atone.

Rushing in where the wise fear to tread,
If only they had known.
