Social Media Should Be A Safe Place For People, Especially Now

What you water, eventually grows. So, it is necessary to water the right seeds, which, at the moment, is a positive mindset. As much as you disagree with the government, I am no different in several places, but right now? Is it the time to show our active dissent against the previous actions of the government, and hurl abuses at them? Do they see any future in doing corruption over #COVID19? If they are, then they must be punished, and the law shall abide. I am not taking the side of government officials in any way, but at this stage, I am not even against them.

At such a crucial time, half-facts can be lethal by breaking our unity as a collective force. Let us raise the issues like always, but with some ‘know-how’ of what we are doing, and how it affects those who are just watching us and are voiceless. Let’s not follow our leaders only because they share a piece of information against the government, which further boils your head.

Let me talk of some areas where India lacks, as some news sources say, “Lack of testing facility for coronavirus ‘choking’ North Karnataka.” At the same time, another headline reads, “Not just claps, give us personal protective gear: Doctors,” while other news I read was about ten times the Coronavirus testing kit’s pricing. At this point, I would like to say: be the voice and carriers of media but do not panic yourself and others.

No one was ready for #COVID19. Had the world been ready, it wouldn’t have taken the shape of a pandemic. Let me also reiterate that ‘no country is ever perfect’ that we are pointing out our lose points to create an atmosphere of fear.’ India is the 2nd most populated and a young country, but we have still achieved so much that other countries haven’t. Why put your high expectations and blame the government for things, not in its hand? Don’t you see the authorities are trying, every day, to combat the pandemic? The lockdowns, the shutting of flights, railways, movement, you still need validation that the government is serious? Take a moment, even appreciate what is going right. I am not saying you don’t speak for what is wrong.

I have always been a practitioner of ‘true expression far from prejudice,’ but here I see no point of creating an uneasy atmosphere over the only safe space of connection we have right now. Please don’t let information and communication cause fear but realizing how strong we are to support each other as Indians. Did you know the government has partnered with hotels and even OYO’s in your cities to create hospital facilities if such a need arises?

We are preparing not as BJP or Congress or AAP but as India. Please, please distance yourself from spreading negative news without examining the effect it would leave on those who follow you. Don’t make #socialmedia the point where hate is harboured without reflection of what we are up to! #Peace #MentalHealth #Important #IndiaFightsCorona
