Poem: The Castle Of Sand

The one who sets his throne over the waters is unrelenting, to say the least.

Ceaseless in attack he sets snare after snare in absolute tandem with the baser instincts until the gullible soul falls astray.

Some of the most persevering and well-intentioned journeys towards righteousness are thus brought to an abrupt and tragic end.

I strive in desperation to preserve the flicker of faith as it gasps precariously when confronted with the winds of change.

I have over a period of time built a castle of sand, unworthy as it is, it is my only citadel, built with whatever meagre reserves of goodness I could muster.

I stand before the ocean hoping against hope for the waves to give me respite until it is time to move to the next abode.
