Opinion: Either We Fight For Our Safety Every Day Or We Pull This Government Down

protest after hathras

*Trigger Warning*

A democracy is where people speak for their interests and governments are bound to come with the idea of change supported by their active groups of people. A sovereign can only be benefited with actual changes which are needed for the upgradation of society when it listens to the demands of its people, the very actual and legitimate demands of the people are to be carried forward in action for a nation to be a perfect democracy.

When a democracy listens to its people it holds the audacity to bring change in common lives by creating opportunities. For countries like us who fought for independence, we had to deal with generations of people who were unaware of education, unaware of their basic needs and rights. When the British left, they left us ruined, they left us all with a mature mentality to be slaves, to be driven in the name of religion.

Our population was 30.6 crore in 1950, and the literacy rate in 1911 in India was 5.9% and we came across 74.04% in 2011. We were the democracy which set milestones across the globe to be the most secular state. India being the largest democracy, are yet to achieve the tag for holding the badge of honour for being called a developed nation. This generation was supposed to be the game-changer for India.

We were topping the youngest population rate worldwide, but then the dark period of modern Indian politics showed its face, where the same British conspiracy policy came forward in a more desi way. Divide and rule worked well and the looters successfully looted us and are planning to enslave us unlike every other older shaashaks. Mauryas, Mughals, Britishers didn’t want us to be free.

Congress never made us feel that fear. We were chit-chatting around the dinner table rather than stressing over the rise of fascism, fear, insecurity, unemployment, gender inequalities and what not. Let us all understand the game together and not be part of the bigger misleading conspiracies.

We have seen the Lokpal Bills, Jio ads, GPS chips, GST, Pulwama, Arnab being attacked, SSR, Bollywood, CAA, NRC, Dhara 370, Babri Masjid demolition, Kisan Bill, Godhra, Judge Loya, Safoora Zargar and the Delhi riots. We have seen everything happening in this country which is not supposed to happen in a democracy.

We can’t hold for too long with this downfall which is social and economical. People have lost their social etiquettes. India, which was known for its social value, honesty, etc., it’s all gone. All the sacrifices that our forefathers gave have all gone into vain. They fought for freedom to make us united and all we are doing today is curing hate inside our hearts for our people, our women are being raped brutally, our people are being lynched and put to death. This is all because of the heinous game they are playing with us where every other high official is a pyadaa or conspirator.

Opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were arrested on 1 October en route Hathras by the UP government. No outsiders have been allowed inside the village. No media can enter and today the Thakur Brahman Panchayat of Hathras decided to support accused rapists. This is how India is treating it’s daughters these days.

Let me remind you a Dalit girl was allegedly abducted in broad daylight by 4 upper-class men while she was working on her Bajra field. She was brutally raped, bones crushed, tongue cut, spinal cord broken and her neck was broken. She died after struggling for 15 days and was burnt without the permission of the family by the UP police.

Despite all the video proof, the postmortem report suggests that she was never raped. UP police charging the family with accusations of “kuch galtiyan aapse bhi hui hai” and they are set to do a Narco test on the family of the victim. Allegedly the victim’s family’s phones have been seized and they are under house arrest. What are they trying to show? This is not the future we dreamed of. If we do not feel safe, we must fight for our safety, every day, every minute or we can only pull this government down. Think what’s safer for all?
