Can A Woman Fasting For A Day Really Add Years To Her Husband’s Life?

Why are girls expected to do vrats (fasts) to get a ‘good husband’ in the future? And why don’t boys do the same? Why do we expect women to fast on Karva Chauth for their husband’s health, wealth, and long life? Why can’t men do the same for their wives?? Why? Can’t women live longer and stay healthy and have wealth just like men? Who decided on such customs?

Have you heard of a single man who fasted for his spouse? Maybe yeah you did. But does that really help? Why must a woman sit hungry all day and observe a fast when most men just go about their day without any care? I don’t think there’s any science or theory behind this custom except blind faith.

I concur fasting can help in removing toxicity from your body and soul. For example, Navaratri is an Indian festival that is celebrated twice in a year. It coincides with the harvest season both the times. Many people observe 9-day fasts during this time. It might also help in eliminating toxins from your body… So it’s beneficial for the individual—not their spouse!

If you truly need your husband to be safe and sound and healthy, then make him a bowl of greens and other healthy stuff rather than following these rituals. I am trying to ridicule these customs; I’m simply questioning the science behind them. In fact, I do believe that our actions do contribute to the universe.
