Women Entrepreneurs And The Pandemic

Every entrepreneur has faced a downward slip in their respective businesses in this highly unfortunate times of COVID-19. Be it export-import, food industry, film industry or IT sector; every business has hampered.

Once, Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop, said, “Nobody talks about entrepreneurship as a survival, but that’s exactly what it is and what nurtures creative thinking. Running that first shop taught me business is not financial science; it’s about trading: buying and selling.”

Although businesses are witnessing a downfall, women solopreneurs have faced a different set of challenges dealing with this calamity.

Work From Home

WFH may sound a very comfortable thing to do, but it is one of the biggest hurdles for women to run their businesses while being present in their family set up. All working women must be able to relate to the challenges of working from home. They can hardly manage time and make their work-life balance easier in such a distractive environment.

COVID-19

We live in a society where women are assumed to be the caretaker of their families. The condition of their family member may not have affected her physical health, but it would definitely affect her mental peace. That too, when she has to run her business and take care of her family at the same time.

Domestic Violence

An increment in family problems and domestic violence is on the rise in the lockdown. This is one of the biggest challenges that many women are facing.

However, besides these challenges which have demotivated the businesswomen, many women have taken this opportunity by setting up MSMEs. Increasing demand for masks has given new hope for rural women, who have taken this opportunity to improve their financial condition.
