All of us must agree that Bihar never faced a lack of talent; it was just that policymakers couldn’t turn them into resources. Rather they worked for decades to encourage them to migrate to a different part of the country for livelihood. Although it has been happening for decades, people realised it during this pandemic when lakhs of migrants returned home.
So, the most important issue is to provide enough employment opportunities within the state. To achieve this, policymakers should focus on the issues mentioned below:
- Improve law and order to create a safe environment for business activities.
- Industry friendly policies to attract new industrial establishment.
- Skill development programs to make youth employable.
- Infrastructure development should be a priority, that is roads, electricity, freight corridors and the like.
- Encourage reverse migration to use their talents for the development of the state.
