How do you solve a problem like CrayJo?
: A sociological analysis on India’s new fav online streaming show that is a rip-off of yet another Amrikan show.
In yet another assault on the Indian diaspora, both in India and abroad, India’s ‘classy content’ site has unleashed yet another Karmatic problem. The new show on ‘donetodeathchix’ further institutionalizes a casteist, overprivileged, under-nourished, and utterly tone-deaf ‘fraternity’ that is the Bane of Bollywood. Consequently, this ‘fraternity’ is also a constant apocalypse to progress in Indian art and cinema. The fraternity Tiger King is akin to an Indian JoeExotica who uses gimmicks like ‘sanskar’ and stupefied, comatose, spaced-out clowns to perform in his Theatre of Agony. Also, these ‘frat bois & gurlz’ are a group of ultra-rich SOHombae high school kids that continue to use their real and sugar-daddies to relive their glory days of evolution. Also, they seemed to have stopped evolving once they hit their sweet-sixteens or ummm.. attended ‘coming out balls’?
CrayJo wrote ONE bad thing in 1995. He then used his high school clique to get famous actors and market it for him. Since 1995 CrayJo has been regurgitating and feeding the silver screen with the same shit over and over and over again so many times that at this point there is more content in actual shit than YET another one of CrayJo’s Brain Farts. However, I am not the first one to write about this and I will not be the last. As long as CrayJo keeps reinforcing his toxic brand of masculinity there will be Consistent, Collaborative & Concrete reactions from other writers. Three C (Ki) words that CrayJo could assimilate in his script-writing techniques.
The point is, how do we stop this madness? How do we stop this March of Art reduced to Brain Farts?
CrayJo is a toxic product of his toxic environment. A cursory reading of CrayJo’s magnum opus, that he has apparently written himself, reveals that CrayJo evolved from an underconfident kid to an insecure youth to a damaged sugar-daddy. FYI the title of this book is also ripped-off another book. Also, like his other scripts, you do not have to read the entire book or watch the entire film. First few minutes/pages are enough. Don’t buy, borrow.
Something about CrayJo’s book and his shows tell me that if one were to really show CrayJo a mirror – much like Dorian Gray, either of 2 things will happen
- The mirror will crack OR
- CrayJo will crack (further).
Also, unfortunately, this evolution of his is empowered by such ridiculous and undeserved peak privilege, that he has dragged down with him not 1 but 3 generations of overprivileged, under-nourished, and insecure star kids. This closely guarded ‘fraternity’ will continue to use inflated egos and teensy-tiny intellects to inflict Friday night ‘box office hits’ on us. Except, now they are delivered right into our palms for a monthly subscription. Mass production is cheap, which is why we buy Chineej.
It took a community to create Document CrayJo, it is now the community’s responsibility to remove Document to Trash Bin or at the very least – Upcycle. He has 3 options, in my not-so-humble opinion, if he wants to write better:
- Change his environment – he has the privilege and choice to do it.
- Pay for some good books and good writers – but we know from ongoing evidence that CrayJo will not, except maybe when FilmFart award shows come around.
- Get a decent therapist – if you hate yourself to a point where you do not even know where to begin healing – SEEK professional help and STOP tormenting everyone around you.
I believe that one must respect and try to empathize with all things that exist. So, I will empathize with the fact that CrayJo is a product of his environment. He grew up in a time of much more hate and shame, especially if you did not perform the gender role that society confirmed upon you. What CrayJo has always wanted and still wants is respect for conformity. Unfortunately, the more he wants it the more he messes up going about it. Respect comes with correcting your mistakes – this requires evolution not conformity. Evolution requires change and CrayJo refuses to change despite being a daddy on SO MANY LEVELS.
He does not want to change. Only the community close to him can help him change and find the courage to show him a mirror maybe? As an educator, I cannot lose hope in people but when people evolve into unthinking cretins like pretty much the entire star cast of this show, one can predict how this will end. Not very well for them or for us. Now you may argue that predictability is comforting or that binge-watching is relaxing. However, there is nothing comforting about this show. At its best it makes you cringe; at its worst, it is a shitshow of tone-deaf privilege.
There is also a point I want to make about Dharm and Karm here but it is late. I sleepy.
