Maa, No Matter How Busy I Get In Life, I’ll Always Make Time To Look After You!

Moms are a true blessing from the Almighty. The word Maa is everything in itself. She has been there for you since day one. Right from carrying you in her womb to bringing you into this world, and letting you explore the world after you have grown up, she has made ample sacrifices for your well being. A mother’s love is pure, eternal and unconditional.

Dear Maa,

I know you never said this but you love me unconditionally. I wonder how my life would have been if you weren’t by my side. You are the strongest women I have ever met. You never complain of being tired or sick after the daily chores. Seeing how you handle your own struggles has taught me how to be strong through mine.

You are an exemplary mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and person. It is from you that I’ve learned to be generous, caring, compassionate, strong and empathetic. You put me first all the time. You have given me everything you have, right from the food on your plate to staying up late at night during my exams. When I meet more people from different family backgrounds, I always feel fortunate to have you as my mother. I have seen your love when you attended my live music and drama shows.

Me with my mother.

You never bought me costly gifts or cakes for my birthday but the way you support and motivate me every day like no other is way costlier than money. You always made me feel special in a way I could not understand.

Thank you for being my best friend. I’m thankful that you always correct me when I’m wrong which pushes me to be a better version of myself. You always act as my mother which truly impacts my truth. I wonder how your intuition is always right. Thank you for listening to me rant about my sometimes-unachievable dreams. Thank you for helping me find a way in this world. Thank you for being an amazing cook and baker and teaching me your amazing cooking skills. Thank you for being my alarm-clock because that helped me prosper in all my exams.

When you aren’t around, home doesn’t feel like home. When I come back from work, you are the first person I want to see when I enter the house. I love when you say “call me once when you reach”. Even though I roll my eyes, it shows how much you really care. I get irritated by the number of phone calls from you when I ain’t by your side, but I know it is only because you really care.

I know bringing me up wasn’t easy. You know my weaknesses, my flaws, my strengths but you accept me for who I am. There were times when I felt like giving up when things were going the other way. But every time, you reminded me of my worth as a human being. There were times when I was a total brat to you. I was rude, selfish and unkind. But you let it go with a smile and that taught me extra patience. As I get older, I realize more and more about your selfless sacrifices.

Maa, I think I’ll never be able to repay you for the beautiful life that you’ve given me but I promise you I’ll never let you down. No matter how busy I get in life, I’ll make time to look after you. I wonder if I could be half the woman that you are. I am excited to see what the future holds for us both.
