It seems that Tanishq’s stars are in some trouble these days. Recently, an advertisement on secularism was filmed and aired, which created good trouble for them. Now, with the arrival of the festival, as soon as they brought a new advertisement, instant reactions and hate started raining on the jewellery brand. Trollers are, yet again, demanding to boycott Tanishq and BoycottTanishq is again trending on Twitter. It is facing allegations of spreading anti-Hinduism propaganda. However, after the controversy escalated, Tanishq has also announced the withdrawal of the advertisement.
Bollywood actress Neena Gupta, Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta and Alaya Furniturewala are seen giving a message of unity in this new Diwali ad by Tanishq. All the actresses are seen wearing Tanishq’s jewellery and advising the society what should be done and what not to do this Diwali.
With the start of the ad, an actress says in it, “Definitely no firecrackers, I don’t think anyone should light any firecrackers“. Finally, they are seen gathering and blossoming. That’s it. That’s where the ad ends.
Not really 😏
Social media users are already very upset from the previous advertisement and now can be seen commenting that it does not tarnish which is going to tell them what to do in Diwali and what not. Not only the netizens but BJP MLA from Karnataka CT Ravi has criticized Tanishq on Twitter saying that the “company should focus on selling its product. Do not teach people how to avoid firecrackers. We will light lights, distribute sweets and also burn green crackers”.
Now that’s where the main point arrives.
Internet would have got a flood of hate comments if they would have promoted obscenity, or burst firecrackers or performed any unsocietal activities. But they are giving the message, which is being talked on every platform. Be it by government, or public itself. Then how come it became such a big issue? It would definitely have worked out if it had some big faces in it.
The problem is that the message is right, but it’s the concerned audience who is not getting it the right way. Pleading, requesting for your lives isn’t a bad thing. If you are not up for it, let others do their jobs. If talking personally, instead of trending #BoycottTanishq, #Boycottstupidmentalities should trend.
The addvertisement is good and needs a wise audience to get it. That’s it.
