Bihar Elections 2020: Nitish’s Shot At Power, Yet Again

reality behind the human chain in bihar

Nitish babu might have taken a shot by power by bargaining and becoming the Bihar chief minister once again. NDA won with a wafer-thin majority somehow managing to cross the halfway mark but did Sushasan babu emerge as a contender for the top post? Did he?

If so, then why was he in a state of denial after the BJP became the number one party in the NDA? Why should there be any trust deficit between Kumar and the BJP’s central leadership? Not at all as for BJP’s faith and belief in Kumar’s ability, action and command as a leader of the state with a universal appeal cutting across the distinctions of class, caste, community and geographies. It is for this fact that Nitish won the popular votes of the economically and most backward sections of the population.

His schemes played the role of a leveller in ensuring the respect and dignity of its beneficiaries. Liquor prohibition was greatly defined and distinguished as one of his flagship initiatives promoting equality of opportunities for women force in the state, along with programmes and policies ameliorating and uplifting the spirits of the women higher and higher. Nitish now fears that BJPs ascendancy in the state may not promote the atmosphere and environment for the conduct of his day to day policy-making and governance influencing and impacting the lives and livelihoods of the ordinary.

Thus, after Sushil Kumar Modi’s exit from Deputy Chief Ministership, Nitish has already sensed the waters. Simply put, BJP would restrain and refrain from interrupting Nitish for now but in case of crisis and confrontation, it wouldn’t mind playing a big brother to Nitish. Tara Prasad Kishor and Renu Devi are the new deputy chief ministers of Bihar as Nandkishor Yadav is expected to be announced as the new assembly house speaker.

How Nitish will chart his way will be everybody’s guess as for the BJP making every move to gradually weaken Nitish by eroding his Luv-Kush (Koeri-Kurmi) vote base. Crossing over to the RJD won’t be easy affair either as Amit Shah might try to win away from a chunk of Congress legislators as for the statements by top most RJD functionaries, thus squarely passing the blame to the Congress for poor electoral performance and presentation.

Otherwise, why would a Shivanand Tiwari feel so encouraged to direct salvos against the Gandhi family? As for Nitish Kumar, the title of Bechara chief minister won’t be suitable. If he can deliver, then fine, else he should start thinking of giving Bihar a credible alternative as we know that he would mind being at the mercy of Shah and Modi. So what if they fought the Bihar elections under his leadership?
