Poem: The Jolt Of Assam Flood!

Something not anew in the land (Assam floods in 2015)

The jolt arrived again,

With the same uproar like tides in vain,

Something not anew in the land,

As it visits every year recklessly, unplanned,

It regrets not to make the impoverished homeless again,

Who’s faith survives by the rain,

For their agricultural fields sowed not to feel this disdain,

The jolt arrived again,

Yet not a National Issue despite being panned,

With debates aired with convictions yet failing to obtain,

For the urges do not reach to the main Gate, with the route so bane,

With the same old embankments on the banks,

That needs to be reconstructed with more of  reservoirs and storage tanks,

Yes, the jolt have arrived again,

Now it sincerely needs your call to amend,

Before the entire land submerges us to choke,

It is high time we stop plugging the urban drains to this havoc,

It’s journey is breathless for the years ahead,

For the monsoons won’t take your permission before it intrudes your land!
