Is There Joy In Giving?

As well-said by one of the greatest writer of all time, Mark Twain, “To get the full joy you must have someone to divide it with, because the wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others the more he has has for his own.”

Principles Of The Inner Soul

Drop a coin and move on, this is our general attitude towards giving. This is how most of us would like to do something through charity or donation. It has no before or after emotional dilemmas. Why do we face dilemmas like this? There are so many things we all can offer to those around us, and believe it or not, many of these things are free. If you feel like you don’t have any material possession to offer, give them your time, your knowledge, love, support and many other things you have that cost you nothing, but they value a lot.

Inferior Situation

If we look around, we will notice the emaciated man licking leftovers from discarded meals at the garbage dump; the little girl expelled from school for not wearing shoes; the poor patient’s family agonising over the decision to sell their last piece of land to pay for medical treatment. Why do such situations arise? One reason for this seeming apathy is our completely blinkered view of society. We live in denial of the distressing. In our comfortable homes amid superfluous consumption, we would like to believe that the person on the street, dying of hunger, does not exist.

Acting From The Heart

Giving is one of the best investments you can make towards achieving genuine happiness. True giving comes from the heart, with no expectation of reciprocation. You’ll find that the more you give, the more you’ll receive. The power of giving is manifested in the kindness and generosity that you bestow on someone else. When you unselfishly give to another, the vibrational energy emitting from your subconscious is at its strongest.

The power of giving, according to neuroscience, is that it feels good. If you find yourself feeling unhappy, try making someone else happy and see what happens. If you’re feeling empty and unfulfilled, try doing some meaningful and worthwhile work and see how you feel. The catch is that you must do this work with passion and enthusiasm.

“Give yourself entirely to those around you. Be generous with your blessings. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
