My Mother Took The Lockdown In Her Stride By Launching Her Own YouTube Channel!

Mothers.

People across the globe have defined mothers differently in their beautiful languages. But none of those definitions even stand close to what mothers actually are.

In a widely popular meme that intermittently keeps popping on my Facebook, the (unknown) author writes, “My mother was feeling cold and now I am wearing a sweater.” Whether it be your first day at college or 1000th day at the job, their care knows no bounds or criteria. It is always “khana khaya”  (did you eat) that’s their first question.

Mothers are the ones who adjust to all situations before anyone else does. You shift to a new house, you come late from outings, or even when you don’t talk to her – yet she adjusts and never backs out of her set of chores. Well, that is what is expected from her too. Time and again, I have heard kids including myself, asking why am I expected to perform well in school, in sports, in extra-curricular, etc. But what about our mothers? Do all of us not expect them to cook food, clean house, or take care of us in different ways?

And, yet, have you ever seen them complaining? How is it that all the mothers at the same time have this adept quality? Now, if you are wondering why I needed just another article to write about the palpable importance mothers hold in our lives, so I am not going to make you wait any longer. This is the story of my mother. Like all others, she also never complained, was the first one to adjust, and everything else that comes to your mind. She is/was/will be all of that.

But in the coronavirus-led lockdown, she went a step ahead to showcase one of her wonderful qualities to adjust. While many of us have been anxious, felt lonely – which is not wrong to feel – my mother found a new way to entertain herself using one of her old skills. A mathematics teacher throughout her life, someone who used to get overjoyed only by the mere news of getting to teach in a classroom

A Luddite otherwise, is now excelling the new platform – you see another instance of quick adjustment. I leave you with the link to her YouTube channel.  Here’s the link, go check it out yourself. 🙂
