Will Nitish Kumar Make A Comeback In The Grand Alliance?

Assessing and evaluating Nitish’s growing discontent and discomfiture is the latest news if we wanted to familiarize ourselves with the ground situation in Bihar.

At first, his lieutenant Sushil Kumar Modi was replaced by the BJP top brass and replaced by two deputy CMs belonging to the BJP. This didn’t bode well for Nitish as his JDU was nearly routed in these elections if not for the humble plea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the electorate of the state.

Now, with the purported phone call of RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav to BJP MLA Lalan Paswan to abstain from voting for the NDA nominee as the speaker of the Bihar assembly has begun making rounds in the political circles. Though the BJP came aggressive and attacking around the issue Nitish babu maintained his coolness and calmness by remaining tight-lipped and muted. As for the loud ruckus and uproar in the house before the election of the new assembly speaker.

Vijay Sinha, the NDA candidate, might have won but the chaotic scene which erupted before his election caught everyone’s imagination. Jitan Ram Manjhi, the pro term speaker of the Bihar assembly, was forced to interrupt and intervene quite many a times but without any success. RJD’s charge of back door entry of party cadres belonging to JDU and BJP for cross-voting stoking reactions by the opposition.

This immensely benefitted Tejashwi Yadav who continued drawing his ire against Nitish babu by staging a walkout from the house later releasing a video on the official RJD social media page. Politically, Tejashwi leveraged from the situation as for his walkout from the floor of the assembly. He later released a video on his official social media handle explaining in detail the chronology of the events inside the house and the selection of his stand.

Was Tejashwi attempting to repair his image as an upcoming iconic leader after the purported phone call by Laloo Prasad Yadav began to be hyped by the national media? Well, let’s wait for a few more days before reaching any conclusion as the coming few months will surely provide us with answers we seek to look for.

Who knows if Nitish after exhausting and exploring all his options makes a comeback in the Grand Alliance by reposing his faith in Tejashwi for top post and profile. Or else Nitish’s indecision might help Manjhi and Mukesh Sahani in designing their decision as they appear no more than ring sitters at the moment.
