Indian liberal revisiting liberal values through SWACON Conference

Did you know about the world’s largest virtual liberty conference in India? It is called SwaCon– Swatantrata Conference. It was held by the Swatantrata Center from June 4, 2020 to July 29, 2020. This conference exhibited the valuable ideas of more than 35 Libertarians from all over the world. It began with an idea to enhance the existing liberty for people across the globe and to educate them of its importance.

The organization adopts its name from the Indian freedom movement and its core principles are taken from Indian Liberal Movement. Since its birth, Swatantrata Center has successfully hosted many events like Policy Meetups, Policy Conclaves and Youth Parliament Programs. Its flagship events- Leadership Bootcamp and Swatantrata Yatra have also been a hit among educators and intellectuals.

The Swatantrata Center is the brainchild of Venkatesh Geriti,  Raghavendar Modala and Satya Bhargav Nekkanti who founded the organization. Sougandhi Bogupally, Mohammad Anas Khan, Ranjith Kumar Duguntla and Kiran Reddy support the founders as Board of Directors.

The goal of any individual in this world is to build a life of happiness and Human flourishing which is a reward of hard work and values. Every great achievement began when individuals dared to dream and believe it to be possible. One’s reason and the state’s limited role in assisting and encouraging the individual in his freedom is necessary for self-esteem and happiness and finally in achieving the goal of human flourishing.

Over the years, the creation of innovative products and services have improved the lives of fellow individuals. Swatantrata Center as an organization believes in a society where each and every individual has a choice and opportunity to build a decent life with dignity. We believe that the pursuit of liberty is an essential goal of humanity. The pursuit of liberty is balanced by the responsibilities that all individuals assume over their actions. We look forward to creating a world where every individual has the greatest liberty possible, without interfering or undermining the freedom of any other individuals.

Swatantrata Center works with young minds to achieve Economic Reforms and Good Governance through research and Advocacy. The areas of focus are Economic Activity, Livelihood, Decentralization and Fiscal responsibility in India. With these ideas in mind the organization holds conferences every year. These conferences bring together scholars, policy, development experts and entrepreneurs. Such powerful people come to this platform to discuss key issues like Liberty, Economic Freedom, Governance and Development policies.

In a very short period of inception of Swatantrata Center, it has hosted several events such as Policy Meetups, Policy Conclaves and Youth Parliament Programs; Swantantra’s flagship events Leadership Bootcamp and Swatantrata Yatra received immense support from liberal intellectuals and Educational Institutions and were highly successful in spreading the idea of liberty. During the time of Pandemic Lockdown, Swatantrata and kept intact with young leaders across the global educating them on policy practices and development ideas by hosting E-Policy Conclaves and organisation celebrated #SWACON Swatantrata Annual Conference, the largest online gathering discussing ideas of liberty and policy practices.

Both Left and Right have embraced some of the liberal ideas but the core of liberalism rooted in individualism, a free and voluntary society based on the economic system and limited government are the principles least discussed. People embraced and hated liberalism for various reasons and their own interpretations of liberalism. #SwaCon will provide an opportunity to understand why liberalism is important, relevant, and vital for human flourishing. Through SWACON 2020 edition, Swatantrata would like to Reclaim Liberalism and Fight for Liberty.

Through these conferences, Swatantrata Center aims to create a society where every individual has an opportunity to dream big and liberty to turn these dreams into reality.
