Nowadays, it has become essential for women, children and the elderly to drive everyday. Roads in India work as a silent killer of people. Not many are able to avoid driving a vehicle anymore. The local government bodies are simply unaware of the road conditions under their area of governance.
The dirty and dusty roads have made its impossible to live safely. People face asthma, bronchitis, lung diseases and so many other airborne diseases due to dusty roads in rural as well as urban parts of India. Over the years, people have been silently facing various diseases and deaths due to bad roads.
People are scared because of such roads. People are suffering from the worse conditions of roads in many ways. They are facing a huge financial and mental loss due to these horrible life-threatening pains caused by road-bourne health conditions. Milkmen and farmers have to transport their goods everyday in all seasons. They have to run their vehicles early in the morning in darkness. Huge potholes on roads become their death knell. To drive on such roads is to invite death. And common people are facing this everyday.
People are suffering from lower and upper backaches, spondylitis and various other backbone diseases. They are losing their lives. Who is responsible for their health and lives? Roads are not repaired and shade trees are not planted on either side of the roads. So, it is not clear what the road tax and tree tax is levied by the citizens every year for.
Local bodies should be fined and members should be penalised for playing with people’s lives by making roads bad and torturing them on a daily basis.
