Novel coronavirus pandemic is constantly infecting millions of people and killing many people all over the world. The most exhausted personnel during this phase are doctors. After being physically and mentally exhausted, doctors are fighting a battle with self and against the virus. Doctors are at high-risk, as they are constantly exposed to positive patients and live with a constant fear of transmitting the disease to their loved ones. They are living their lives as if they are walking on the fence.
Doctors working in COVID hospitals are constantly wearing personal protection equipment (PPE) and refraining from food, urination for their entire duty hours as well as withstand suffocating PPE experience for many months. Many private doctors are facing pay cuts and lack of patients and undergoing financial crisis. Doctors are frequently seen involving themselves in entertainment and amusement activities like singing and dancing with or without PPE.
Their Whatsapp and Facebook are flooding with scientific information about coronavirus, epidemiology, investigations, treatment, and vaccine research. This is the new topic of discussion amongst them. They have been frequently beaten at several places even at this time also and this is the reflection of the typical mentality, where doctors are not valued.
Many doctors lost their lives. If an actor dies, it becomes a hot topic of discussion for months and if a sadhu dies, journalists yell for an entire week and question the political leaders. Why is the death of doctors not even acknowledged? They are crowned as corona warriors and it’s our duty to acknowledge them but a doctor’s death never gains any TRP for media channels.
They are living their life with PPE, singing, dancing, researching, and treating patients silently without any expectations. Just clapping for a few minutes in the honour of corona warriors is not enough. People are expected to behave in a more responsible and vigilant manner to curb the pandemic.
Let’s fight this virus, fight together, and respect all true corona warriors in a true spirit. The biggest question of the year is: When will this end? The mystery remains so it’s our duty to behave responsibly.
