Oasis Misaal Project: An Initiative to Discover and Prepare Leaders of Tomorrow

India is the largest democracy in the world, with a population of more than 132 crores. India has more than 50% population below 25 years and more than 65% below the age of 35. India produces some of the best experts in the world.

However, the irony is that India ranks highest when it comes to broad issues like corruption, unemployment, pollution, poverty, depression, etc. We blame politicians, bureaucrats, systems, people and everything there’s. However, if we truly introspect, only we are responsible for these problems — one way or the other.

Take corruption, for example. Is it possible to have these problems unless educated people are not a party to this? Aren’t those people who are at the helm of affairs, who have power and position the ones who actively instigate and participate in this problem? There has to be something seriously wrong in our education system wherein we can produce experts in various fields but not good hearts to deal with issues of life, society and the country.

After the rich experience of 31 years of working with youth and children, we have learned that if given an opportunity and guided well, children and youth can resolve their problems and have the heart and mind both to contribute towards society. All they need is an opportunity. Inculcating the right values in the next generations is the only way out.

Oasis Misaal Project

At Oasis Movement, we have launched a first-of-its-kind project to spot, inspire, prepare, guide and support teenagers, youths, teachers and citizens who wish to bring about a positive cultural change in the society and country at large, is the change themselves first.

And we don’t wish to identify one, two or 10 leaders; we want to identify thousands of them. We have a vast faith in today’s generation; the only thing that was lacking in society is identifying them and nurturing them. If we’re successful in doing that, the next generation will witness a better India, a better world.

Misaal 2018 and 2019 in Gujarat, Bengaluru and J&K

The first phase of the Oasis Misaal project was launched in June of 2018. We’re delighted and proud to tell you that the project received magnificent success in 2018 and 2019. Around 9000 teens and youths participated in the project. And it should be a proud number for any Indian that we discovered over 900 Missals. We believe that our country has an ample amount of such teens and youths; the only thing missing is identifying and nurturing them. Once we do it, the world will surely be a better place.

Misaal: A competition but not a Competition

In a way, Misaal is a competition, and another way it’s not. Here’s why:

Four staged Process

Misaal is a four-staged competition with the stages mentioned below:

  1. Essay Round: Write an essay on a social issue out of 5 topics given to you.
  2. Group Dialogue: Where you not only try to prove your point but try to learn from others also.
  3. Project Work: Where you take action on your essay topic.
  4. Leadership Development Program: 15-days leadership development program at Oasis Valleys, Gujarat.

What will the winners Get?

The winners who manage to pass through these three stages will be awarded Oasis’ Greatness and Leadership Development — the best leadership course in the country along with Mind-Body Performance Training and Advanced Trekking Leadership Program — all worth more than ₹1 lakh+ per child. Plus, they get the opportunity to be social entrepreneurs under our Misaal Social Leadership Development Program (MSLDP) on a Serve-Learn-Earn basis.

They will be provided with all the help, guidance and opportunity to build the land of their dreams.
