The 86th Amendment act 2002 inserted Article 21(A) in the constitution to provide free and compulsory education to all children in the age group of 6-14 years. The ASER Reports 2018 says 50% of all students in class 5 cannot read the class 2 level. It has been found that especially those in elementary school are not learning. As far as private schools are concerned, students from private schools are doing better than Government schools in rural India.
We are basically lagging in qualitative education. Rural areas suffer from poor and defective education policy. We actually need to be more sensitive towards the quality of education, unlike education of boring and frustrating. There are many schools where teachers don’t focus on or identify the basic problem of students, though they start teaching for their own satisfaction.
The foremost duty of a teacher is to break the educational structure’s backwardness by providing their students with qualitative education. It is said that the best leaders are great teachers. Education is fundamental to developmental growth.
The ASER Report 2018 also recorded that around 20% of rural students don’t have textbooks at home. It is important to understand the basic problems of the education system. We need an excellent education system that facilitates the relationship between academia and extra curriculum addressing all aspects of learning and allows learners to explore them in different fields.
We don’t always require large financial resources for an excellent education. Sometimes, a small change makes a big and positive difference. These changes are needed in the educational environment and also in the behaviour of teachers. A teacher’s goals must not be limited to classroom learning rather should be extended outside the walls of the classroom.
This process will enhance the desire to learn. We need to develop more activities on the given topic and need more creative activities to explore students’ ideas. There is a need for qualified and motivated teachers who can create a friendly environment. In this contemporary era, skills matter a lot.
An excellent education comes from the guidance which focuses child’s strength and weakness, then only try to progress according to its need. In India, we have many rural districts that require serious attention.
Normally families who are good financially send their children outside, and a large section unable to study discontinues their study. This is the reason girls have a high dropout rate. They don’t have colleges or good institutions close to home and also have limited education opportunities.
Rural children go to school, but the learning quality they receive is not good enough. The method of teaching styles is a big reason that resulted in the students’ failures. The majority of the country’s population lives in the villages. And yet, the majority of India’s villages have no basic amenities.
Teachers must put their best efforts to reach out to students. There is a need to improve the quality of education in rural schools by providing good infrastructure and digital devices. The infrastructure needs to be upgraded to improve education.
